Central World Plaza along Sukhumvit Road has been the city’s official site of the NYE countdown ever since it opened. The immense plaza outside the equally large Central World Shopping Mall is the place to be for the largest and longest fireworks display in Bangkok when the clock strikes midnight.
There is a large stage offering bands and free entertainment throughout the evening. If you want to join the fun, get there early, as it can get crowded the closer to midnight.
Khao San Road is the Place for a Raucous Evening
Khao San Road has always been known as a party destination, and NYE is no exception. There will be a stage at the Burger King end of the road offering loud music all night long. There isn’t a fireworks show offered at Khao San Road, though there will be fireworks sold by street vendors. This is a reason you should be careful and stay aware. Fireworks can be dangerous in close quarters.
But if you’re willing to brave a little danger in your revelry, Khao San Road is an excellent place to watch a colorful and immensely diverse crowd of humanity kick up their heels.
Celebrate from the Rooftops
The Banyan Tree Hotel, The Dome at Lebua, and the Centara Grand Hotel all offer rooftop bars and restaurants that offer stunning views of the city and fireworks on NYE.
The Red Sky rooftop bar also has the benefit of looking down on the countdown celebrations right next door at Central World Plaza. These aren’t the only rooftop bars in Bangkok, but they’re the most well-known.
